A library card is available for a 7-year-old at the beginning of school. The first card is free, renewing it costs 2€. The same library card can be used in the main library, in the mobile library and in all libraries that belong in the Lapland library. A library card must be presented when borrowing material. If your address changes, please notify the library.

Lending times

Lending time for books in the main library is four weeks. Time for magazines is two weeks. For CDs and DVDs the time is one week.

In the mobile library the lending time is three weeks for all material. If there is a holy day, or some other reason the mobile library does not run, the return date will be the next time the mobile library is at the stop.

Reservation and renewing material

Material can be reserved and renewed by logging into Lapland library internet service. To make a reservation and to renew material a library card and a password are needed. The password is available in the main library.

If there are no reservations on the material, the lending time can be extended by a phone (040 728 5733, phone number to the mobile library 0400 392 854)or by e-mail kirjasto(at) or kirjastoauto(at) Giving the number in your library card (also in the receipt) speeds up renewing.

If the loans are not returned in time, a notice fee will be charged. The fee is determined by how many times the notice has been given.

- first notice 1€
- second notice 3€
- third notice 5€ and a fine 0,40€/week

The owner of the card is responsible for the material that has been borrowed on the card. He or she is liable for compensations for damages or buying a new copy to replace lost or broken items. An image data can only be made up for by paying compensations because of a copyright fee. A borrower loses the right to borrow if

- there are unpaid fines for 10€ or more
- a customer receives a bill for the borrowed items.

The ban holds until the bill is paid or loans are returned in loaning condition and fines are paid.
The library is not liable if a borrowed item causes damage on the customer's appliance.

Remote lending

If the desired material cannot be found in your own library, it can be borrowed from another library. The fee is determined by the sending library, generally the fee is 2€/an item.
